Chocolate Caramel Candy

As a homesteader, I love making this candy from scratch, knowing exactly what goes into it. The balance of sweet and savory is simply irresistible, and the satisfaction of making something this delicious from home is unbeatable. Chocolate Caramel Candy

Ingredients
  

Layer One
  • 1 1/4 cup milk chocolate chops
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
Layer Two
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 7 oz marshmallow cream
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • pinch of salt
Layer Three
  • 10-14 oz caramel candies
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
Layer Four
  • 1 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter

Method
 

Layer One
  1. Melt together both ingredients.
  2. Spread onto bottom of a 9x13 pan, refrigerate until firm.
Layer Two
  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter.
  2. Add the sugar and milk. Bring to simmer for five minutes, then remove from heat.
  3. Add the marshmallow cream, peanut butter, vanilla, and salt.
  4. Stir until combined, layer on top of layer one. Refrigerate until chilled.
Layer Three
  1. In a saucepan, melt together the caramel candies and heavy whipping cream until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread on top of layer two and return to refrigerator to chill.
Layer Four
  1. Melt together both ingredients.
  2. Spread on top of layer three. Refrigerate until chilled.
When all four layers are chilled, cut into 1-inch squares and keep refrigerated.
