Jiffy Hamburger Buns

Makes 18-24 buns

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup melted fat butter, lard, tallow, or liquid oil
  • 3 tbs honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbs instant dry yeast
  • 4-5 cups all purpose flour divided

Method
 

  1. Heat together milk, water, melted fat, honey, and salt to 100-105℉.
  2. Add instant dry yeast. Let set until it foams (3-5 minutes)
  3. Add two cups of the flour. Mix well until nice and smooth.
  4. Add 2-3 more cups of flour.
  5. Knead well for 5-8 minutes adding sprinkles of flour, as needed.
  6. Cover tightly in a bowl and let it rise for 10 minutes
  7. Roll out dough, 1/2 inch thick and cut with a wide mouth jar lid. Put each circle of dough on parchment paper lined cookie sheet, just barely touching.
  8. Allow to rise for 30 minutes, bake at 375℉ for 10-12 minutes.
  9. Optional: Brush with butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds when removed from oven.
  10. Optional: Use half whole wheat flour.
