Method
- Mix together water, brown sugar, salt, yeast. Let set until foamy (3-5 minutes)
- Add the flour.
- Knead until dough is smooth and elastic, adding more flour if needed. Dough will be stickier than bread dough.
- Optional: Add two teaspoons of seasoning of choice when you add the flour.
- Let rise until double.
- On a greased (tallow, lard, or olive oil) parchment paper on a cookie sheet, press the dough flat, making sure it's even. Cut into bread stick shapes with a pizza cutter and bake at 350℉ for 15-20 minutes.
- Brush with butter immediately after removing from oven, sprinkle with cheese or garlic powder.
Notes
We use this same recipe for pizza crust. We use one recipe and spread it out thin on two cookie sheets. Prebake the crust, add the toppings, and put under broil to heat and melt the toppings.
